Wilton first responders have their hands full as today’s wind gusts topping 50 mph have toppled trees and knocked out power across town. Large and small branches litter the roads, likely making afternoon school bus runs and evening commutes trickier.
Also complicating transportation in town today–albeit briefly–was a tree that fell across the Metro-North Danbury Line train tracks, just above Cannondale station. Utility workers moved quickly to clear the tree from the path of the train (see main photo), and bus service temporary helped any passengers who needed to go further north than Wilton.
As of 2:15 p.m. there are 680 Eversource customers without power and Optimum service is out in parts of town as well.
