Ice sculpting, horse-drawn carriage rides, a chili cook off and a beer tasting are just a few of the fun and exciting events happening at the very first Wilton Winter Carnival, being held this Sunday, Jan. 28 at 12-4 p.m. by the Wilton Chamber of Commerce. This event is sponsored by Fairfield County Bank; the supporting sponsor is Blue Buffalo and GOOD Morning Wilton is pleased to join the Fox 95 as media sponsor.

In addition to horse drawn carriage rides, there will be a live, ice sculpting demo at the Gazebo, plus pre-carved sculptures at Fairfield County Bank and Gregory & Adams, P.C. (190 Old Ridgefield Rd.), Village Market (108 Old Ridgefield Rd.), and the Wilton Library (137 Old Ridgefield Rd.); a scavenger hunt sponsored by First Selectwoman Lynne Vanderslice‘s office; live music from Fox 95; a campfire with marshmallows and hot chocolate, sponsored by the Wilton Economic Development Commission (roasting skewers will be available or bring your own, children must be accompanied by an adult); life size Olaf and Penguin characters for photo ops; a chili cook off (Little Pub, Craft 14, Chef Jeff’s BBQ, Wilton Pizza & Pasta and more will compete); and a beer tasting station courtesy of Little Pub and the new Redding Beer Company.

Guests can stroll through town to view all the Snowflakes mounted on the lampposts and Wilton Library will be open early with special activities, including snowflake decorating, hamming it up in front of a green screen, experiencing virtual reality, coloring and warming up next to the fireplace.

The event is snow or shine, so bundle up and come outside and enjoy!

“We are delighted to bring this new, fun-for-all-ages event to our town. We hope everyone will join us as we transform Wilton Center into a winter thoroughfare, filled with activity,” says Susan Goldman, president of the Wilton Chamber, adding, “We are thankful to all who are making it possible through their sponsorships, support and enthusiasm, as we embark on what we hope will be an annual winter event.”
