The first day of spring begins today, Monday, March 20, at 6:28 a.m., and spring-like weather will coincidentally arrive for the beginning of this week (March 20-26) to celebrate the spring weather. Winter-like weather will return for the later part of the week, however, so don’t put away your winter coats just yet.

Monday, March 20:  On the first day of spring, today’s weather will be beautiful, so be sure to head outside and enjoy it. Mostly sunny skies, light winds, and a high temperature in the upper 40s–which is average for this time of the year–is what you can expect for the day. It will sure be a GOOD day!

Tuesday, March 21:  Temperatures will climb further heading into Tuesday. I think we’ll make it to the low 50s–that will feel fantastic! What also will be fantastic about our Tuesday will be the sunshine with a mix of sun and clouds in the forecast. I also want to note that Tuesday morning’s low temperature should finally remain above freezing.

Wednesday, March 22:  We’re going to experience a shock to the system on Wednesday because of a big dip in the jet stream, unleashing cold air pouring in from Canada. We’ll go from highs in the low 50s on Tuesday to a high of only freezing on Wednesday. At least there will be lots of sunshine, but that won’t help with the gusty winds up to 40 mph.

Thursday, March 23:  Ample amounts of sunshine will stay in place for our Thursday as the center of high pressure moves overhead. As you get closer to the center of a high, winds calm down. Therefore, winds will be much lighter, making for a much more bearable day despite the below average temperatures.

Friday, March 24:  The center of yesterday’s high moves east, giving way to a southerly flow of milder air. That will bring temperatures up to the 40s and 50s for the weekend. There is a catch, however–you won’t be able to fully enjoy that warmer air because a few rain showers are possible Friday. It won’t be a washout by any means, but it will still be a damp, mostly cloudy day.

Saturday, March 25:  Saturday is looking like a nice day and a very warm day with a forecast high of 55 degrees. There is the slight chance for rain, but I think that will be confined to more northern parts of the Northeast. Otherwise, expect filtered sunshine, or milky white skies, due to high clouds from the storm nearby.

Sunday, March 26:  By Sunday, temperatures will fall a bit back into the 40s under partly sunny skies. Again, a rain shower or two can’t be ruled out, but as of now it’s not expected.
