This year’s Women in History event at Miller-Driscoll Elementary School, sponsored by the Miller-Driscoll PTA and co-chaired by Maureen Brown and Rebecca Perlman, had over 50 volunteers who each portrayed a trailblazing historical female figure.

“We had a lot of fun and helped educate kindergarteners through second graders about these remarkable women,” Brown said. The event was held on Thursday, March 21.

M-D Principal Kathy Coon thanked the volunteers for what she said was one of the best events of the year.

“The energy throughout the school was palpable and the presentations were incredibly engaging and entertaining,” Coon said.

Among the historical figures who visited the classrooms were Agatha Christie, Amanda Gorman, Barbra Streisand, Billie Jean King, Carol Burnett, Clara Barton, Cleopatra, Dolly Parton, Eleanor Roosevelt, Ella Fitzgerald, Ellen Ochoa, Frida Khalo, Greta Thunberg, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Jane Goodall, Kamala Harris, Lucille Ball, Maria Tallchief, Marie Curie, Mary Edwards Walker, Megan Rapinoe, Misty Copeland,
Queen Elizabeth, Rigoberta Menchu, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sandra Day O’Connor, Simone Biles, Sonia Sotomayor, Susan B. Anthony, and Temple Grandin, among others.
