Woodcock Nature Center has planned two new events this spring that will welcome the community to enjoy the outdoors in unique ways: a Birding Brunch on Saturday, May 4 beginning at 8 a.m. with educator Tommy McCarthy; and a Yoga Retreat on Sunday, May 19 beginning at 10 a.m. with yoga instructor Molly McLaughlin, both at Woodcock Nature Center.
Organizers said the Birding Brunch will help bird lovers of all ages get hooked on the beauty and excitement of birdwatching. McCarthy, Woodcock’s own birdwatcher, photographer, and educator, will lead a walk on the trails of Woodcock to discover the peaceful excitement that birdwatching can bring. After the hike, participants will enjoy a light brunch in Woodcock’s picturesque pavilion and have an opportunity to discuss the exploration with fellow nature enthusiasts. Attendees should dress for the weather and are asked to leave dogs at home as they can scare off wildlife. The cost for the event is $30. All proceeds support community outreach programs at the nature center. Registration is required and space is limited.
At the Yoga Bruch, yoga enthusiasts will enjoy a light warm-up hike through the nature center’s trails with Woodcock Executive Director Lenore Herbst. The hike will be followed by an outdoor yoga class with McLaughlin, a popular local instructor. Participants will finish the morning with a relaxing light brunch and mimosas in the pavilion next to a roaring fire. Participants should dress for the weather and bring a yoga mat and towel. The cost for this event is $65 and participants must be 21 and over. All proceeds support community outreach programs at the nature center. Registration is required and space is limited.
Both events require advance purchase on the Woodcock Nature Center website.
