Join the Wilton Family YMCA for its 28th Annual Wilton Community Celebration on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.. For the event’s “I Love Rock n’ Roll” theme, Rolling Hills Country Club will be transformed into a rock n’ roll inspired atmosphere.

This year the Wilton Y will be honoring Bruce Beebe and ABC of Wilton (A Better Chance) with the 28th Annual Distinguished Citizen Award. The award recognizes individuals and organizations that demonstrate a commitment to improving the quality of life in Wilton.

During the cocktail hour, attendees will have the opportunity to bid on unique and fabulous silent auction items while sipping on the Love on the Rocks signature drink and capturing great photo memories by posing next to “Elvis”–or at least an Elvis impersonator.

Pimpinella, a popular rock/disco/funk band, will entertain guests with their sound and energy as they perform to this year’s theme “I Love Rock n’ Roll” after a rock n’ roll inspired dinner is served. Emcee Megan Smith-Harris of Wilton Magazine will be the auctioneer for the live auction, which includes:  VIP tickets to Good Morning America; a hockey stick autographed by Martin St. Louis of the New York Rangers; a football autographed by Joe Namath; a New Canaan “stay-cation” complete with overnight stay, dinner and private tour of the glass house; and rink side tickets at Madison Square Garden for a NY Rangers hockey game.

Funds raised during the event support the Wilton Family YMCA’s mission to be open and accessible to all, so that everyone in the community has an opportunity to participate in Y membership, programs, services and social activities, regardless of financial situation or ability. The Y awards $470,000 annually for financial assistance and community outreach programs so that children can attend summer day camp, senior citizens can participate in water exercise, adults can rehabilitate from an accident or illness, and families can spend quality swimming together at the Y.

“I am thrilled to invite the community to the 2014 Wilton Community Celebration to honor Bruce and A Better Chance of Wilton while raising funds to ensure that everyone, without regard to ability, income, age or background, has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the Y,” said Bob McDowell, executive director at the Wilton Family YMCA.

The event is sponsored by the Fairfield County Bank.
