The Wilton Youth Council‘s My School Color Run returns for a second year on Thursday, May 4 at 3:30 p.m. to raise money for its program, Youth to Youth, as well as other WYC programs. Appropriate for everything Wilton Youth Council stands for, the event is a colorful, fun event that allows participants of all ages and fitness abilities, and celebrates healthy–and drug-free–life choices.

The untimed run takes place at Middlebrook School. Check-in time is 3:15 p.m., and the run starts at 3:30 p.m.. Along the route, participants pass through vibrant color zones, making it a colorful experience. Additionally, each pre-registered participant is provided with a single powder color packet that will be thrown in the air at the final color celebration at the finish line.

“Rather than sell goods, we want to engage the entire community in a fitness initiative that aims to encourage a life-long healthy way of living,” says Tanya Leonard, the Youth to Youth’s Middlebrook Club advisor.

Registration is still open for the May 4 event. Interested participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible to insure a t-shirt, race bib, and individual color packet. Registration costs $45 and can be completed online or by completing a paper registration form.

Youth to Youth is an international club founded in 1982 in Columbus, Ohio as a community-based drug prevention and youth leadership program. The goal is to encourage young people to make positive choices and to live free of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.

Student members of the Middlebrook Youth to Youth club meet weekly and the club focuses on four components; community service, personal growth, fun positive actions and drug and alcohol education. Within Youth to Youth, there is a student board which provides leadership and decision making opportunities for students.
