On Friday, May 29, A Better Chance of Wilton hosts its second “Opening Our Hearts and Homes House Tour” to benefit the Wilton ABC program.

GOOD Morning Wilton is pleased to be one of the event’s sponsors.

Since 1996, ABC of Wilton has provided housing and education for up to fourteen minority scholars with financial need, to give them “a better chance” in life.  In turn, the scholars enrich Wilton’s schools and community by sharing their life experiences and talents. The Wilton ABC program is one of only four programs nationwide that has both a girls’ and boys’ house.

The success of the program is measured by the fact that all 32 of the ABC seniors who have graduated from Wilton High School have entered college. That total will increase this June, when three boy scholars and one girl scholar will graduate from WHS and matriculate to college.

ABC of Wilton is supported almost entirely by fundraising events and donations from the community, and with no administrative costs, 100 percent of all contributions are used to support the scholars.

This year’s ABC House Tour features several unique and delightfully decorated homes, including a beautifully restored historic farmhouse and a recently updated Kellogg Brothers home with a spectacular new kitchen and family room with views towards Long Island Sound. A new feature added to the House Tour this year will be the option to purchase a ticket for a garden lunch and exclusive tour of a stately 1940’s home with elegant formal gardens and pool area.

The Tour this year is dedicated to Sandy Kellogg of Kellogg Brothers, Inc., fine homebuilders in Fairfield County since 1933. Sandy passed away in November 2014, but he will be long remembered in Wilton not only for his warm personality and dedication to the Town of Wilton, but for the neighborhood development projects on Hemmelskamp Rd., Keeler’s Ridge Rd., Cider Mill Pl., Ryders Ln., and Pheasant Run Rd.. Sandy and his wife, Susan, have been long time supporters of A Better Chance of Wilton.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at Open House, Signature Style, and Wilton Hardware and on the ABC of Wilton website. Tickets for the main house tour are $50 in advance and $60 the day of the tour. Tickets for the tour plus one additional home and garden luncheon are $80 and must be purchased by May 26.

House Tour organizers are still looking for sponsors. Anyone interested can email Carrie Preisano or Elizabeth Walsh.
