Ambler Farm is hiring!

The Friends of Ambler Farm is seeking a special events coordinator, a new part-time position to plan and execute Ambler Farm’s special events.

According to the job description the role will also be to enhance Ambler Farm’s visibility in the community, attract new audiences and generate revenue. There will be opportunities for growth, especially with the opening of the Raymond-Ambler Farmhouse in 2018.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and execute Ambler Farm’s signature events, approximately 10-12 per year.
  • Work with Program Director and Director of Agriculture to develop and execute meaningful adult educational programs.
  • Conceptualize new event and program ideas to broaden Ambler Farm’s existing program and event portfolio, to deliver on-brand experiences.
  • Create and maintain timelines and production plans for special events.
  • Coordinate fundraising elements (raffles, silent auction, live auction, etc.) for fundraising events.
  • Set revenue goals and work within established budgets.
  • Coordinate and manage event rentals, caterers, entertainment and other vendors as needed.
  • Serve as point of contact for each program and event.
  • Organize and work with volunteers for events related tasks.
  • Manage set-up and clean-up upon completion of event.
  • Order and display educational or fundraising printed materials (bid sheets, flyers, programs), as necessary.
  • Assist in marketing tactics and new ways to drive attendance.
  • Secure temporary event and other permits as necessary.

Skills Required:

  • Must be organized, self-motivated and able to work under tight deadlines, with attention to detail with the budget and in event execution.
  • Must be adept at multi-tasking and have excellent interpersonal skills, working with staff, volunteers, board members, vendors, donors and event attendees.
  • Effectively address and resolve issues in a timely fashion.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in satisfying attendee needs.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Google Calendar and Dropbox. Event planning experience a plus.

The positions offers a flexible schedule, except the hire must be on site during events. The person also must be able to work some evenings and weekends, as required. There is no office at the farm, so the hire must be able to work from home.

The role reports to Ambler Farm’s executive director, Robin Clune.
