Here’s the construction and traffic update for Thursday, Aug. 7, due to the Yankee Gas pipeline project.

  • One crew with GPL Construction will continue to work in the area of School Rd. near Cider Mill School.  Note:  On Wednesday, there were periodic closures at the School Rd. site, preventing through traffic between Kristine Lilly Way and Middlebrook Farm Rd..  It might be advisable to consider an alternate route between Ridgefield Rd. and Rt. 7.
  • The second GPL crew will be continuing work in Wilton Center on Old Ridgefield Rd.. They are working south on Old Ridgefield Rd. near the intersection of Godfrey Place. There will be one lane of traffic alternating in both directions. Expect heavy delays. Residents are encouraged to enter the Center from Ridgefield Rd. (Rte. 33) to access businesses north of Wilton Library, and from Wolfpit Rd. (Rte. 106) to access businesses south of Wilton Library.
  • Henkels and McCoy Construction will be operating a third crew in the area of Wolfpit Rd (Rte. 106) and Danbury Rd. (Rte. 7). They will continue working westbound on Wolfpit Rd in from the intersection of RT 7. They will have lanes open in both directions on Wolfpit Rd and anticipate minimal effect on local traffic.

One helpful note:  a reader mentioned that with much traffic diverted to Godfrey Pl. (at the Library) to Hubbard Rd. (near the Post Office), they’ve spotted a problem for cars that round the corner from Godfrey to Hubbard. The curbing is sharp, not rounded and several cars have hit their tires, causing serious flat tires. Proceed with caution!
