GOOD News at Blue Star Bazaar—owner Megan Labant Abrahamsen is expanding her Wilton-based store to the Trumbull Mall, opening a second location there this weekend.

The successful Wilton boutique for women, tweens, and children will be opening a new, pop-up store at the Trumbull Mall just in time for Mother’s Day. Abrahamsen said the store will be open for at least three months, through the end of July.

“It’s a great chance to test out a totally different market than Wilton⎯different customer, different hours, different environment. One of the leasing managers was familiar with my Wilton store and reached out to me with the opportunity. Three months is a good amount of time to evaluate the opportunity without over-committing myself.”

So how will she be in two places at once?

“[The three months] also happens to coincide well with school calendars because I have several college students who have worked for me in the past that can help me cover the two locations,” Abrahamsen explains.

According to Abrahamsen, this second location will feature a selective mix of brands that shoppers can’t find elsewhere in the mall. What’s more, just like Blue Star Bazaar’s Wilton location, the store will feature unique items for everyone in the family. Top categories for Blue Star Bazaar typically include women’s tops, dresses, and activewear; tween dresses and separates; clothing for kids; handmade jewelry; handbags; hand-poured candles; and crafty gifts for kids. Top women’s brands are Greylin, Dylan by True Grit, Mod-O-Doc and Terez leggings. Top brands for tweens and kids are Splendid, Ella Moss, Tea Collection, Pink Chicken, and Junk Food.

The Wilton-based boutique for women and children that offers a finely curated assortment of clothing, accessories and gifts. Blue Star Bazaar’s selection includes many unique and handmade pieces such as clothing, handbags, jewelry, scarves, heirloom quality toys, picture books, and baby gifts.

Owner Abrahamsen likes to say, “You won’t find everything at Blue Star Bazaar, but you will find something for everyone, and likely something you haven’t seen anywhere else. Most women’s items are under $150 and most children’s items are under $60.

Now she’s looking forward to bringing that brand of unique finds to a spot with a much wider audience.

“I think the Trumbull Mall will be a great fit for Blue Star Bazaar. It’s a great location to expose our unique mix of products to a new set of shoppers. There’s nothing else quite like Blue Star Bazaar at the mall,” Abrahamsen says, who adds she may make it a permanent second location if she’s able to manage both locations and if the demand is strong.

Abrahamsen is also a thankful to friends and colleagues in the Wilton business community, especially one business owner in particular who helped her get the new Blue Star Bazaar Mall location set up, making the opening possible.

“Manny Rodgrigues lives in Wilton and owns The Display Shop, which designs, builds, and installs custom retail fixtures and displays. Manny helped me pull together a gorgeous interior on really short notice.”

The shop will officially open this Saturday, May 7, just in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday. During the grand opening weekend (May 7-8), customers can enjoy complimentary refreshments and receive 15-percent off all their purchases. Blue Star Bazaar will be located on the upper level of the mall near Victoria’s Secret and J. Jill.

Customers can also shop online.
