BREAKING NEWS–Thursday, Oct. 27, 12:30 p.m.:  At approximately 9:10 a.m. this morning, a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in the parking lot between the Barringer Building and the Village Market. According to a release from Capt. John Lynch of the Wilton Police Department, “Wilton Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a pedestrian was struck by a small van in the common driveway in the circle between Scoops and the Village Market.”

When officers arrived on scene they discovered a 70-year-old man had been struck by a small delivery van and struck his head on the paved asphalt driveway when he fell. Wilton Fire and EMS responded and transported the man to Norwalk Hospital.

At the moment, police are not releasing any other information regarding the extent of the victim’s injuries, pending notification of his family members. The victim is a resident of Ridgefield, CT.

The vehicle involved in the incident was a Wilton Cleaners delivery van.

The Police Department’s accident investigation team was activated and was still at the scene of the accident at 11 a.m.. They had cordoned off a wide swath of the driveway area to photograph and collect evidence.

In the statement, Lynch says, “No further information is being released at this time due to the open investigation.”
