Congratulations to these fierce Wilton High School senior varsity volleyball players, who led their team to victory at their last home game yesterday (Wednesday, Oct. 26). After a ceremony celebrating the seniors (pictured above:  Back row L to R–Hayley Meyer, Rachel Low, Ava Martinelli (captain), Kat Aznaran, and Sarah Souza; kneeling in front–Isabella Jones), the Warriors went on to defeat Westport, 3-2.

It wasn’t an easy battle–the team lost the first two games, 17-25 and 19-25. But they fought back to defeat Staples, winning the last three games 25-19, 25-16 and a decisive 15-4.

Low had 30 assists and 8 digs; Meyer had 12 service points, 2 aces and 4 kills; Martinelli had 14 service points, 5 aces and 11 digs; and Summer Rogg had 12 kills and 9 digs.

This team is the first Wilton varsity volleyball team to qualify for the state tournament since 2007. They play their final regular season game today, away against New Canaan.
