At approximately 12:30 p.m. today, a 9-1-1 call came into Wilton Police reporting a medical emergency in the area of 31 Rivergate Dr.. According to Wilton Police, a power line utility worker was reportedly injured, and EMS, Wilton Fire and Wilton Police were dispatched and responded. The victim was transported to Norwalk Hospital, and at present there is no word on his condition.

UPDATE: 2:45 P.M.—A preliminary investigation shows that an employee of an Eversource sub-contractor was in the process of placing a pole when one of the workers on the ground went down to the ground from a standing position for an unknown reason. The investigation will focus on the possibility of an electrical related incident.

A follow up investigation is being conducted by the Wilton Police Department, in conjunction with OSHA and Eversource Energy. The road will be closed for an extended period of time between the intersections of Blue Ridge Lane and Pilgram Trail.

Wilton CERT responded and will be assisting with traffic control.

The name of the patient and sub-contractor will not be released at this time as the investigation continues.
