Celebrate the Cannon Grange’s 83rd Annual Agricultural Fair on Sunday, Aug. 30 at the Grange Hall grounds, (25 Cannon Rd.), 10 a.m.-4 p.m., rain or shine. Admission per person is $2.00 or $1.00 with a canned food item for donation to the Wilton Interfaith Food Pantry. Free parking is available across the street at the Cannondale Railroad Station and Village.

Adults and children alike are invited to participate in the competition for the best home-produced and -raised items:  baked goods and spirits; fruits, vegetables and flowers; artwork, crafts and needlework; and rabbits, poultry and eggs. Raise chickens that lay the best eggs? Make your own wine, bake great cookies, or have a child that created an incredible Lego sculpture? Fair entry forms and informational booklets are available on the Cannon Grange website, from local merchants and banks and at Wilton Town Hall and Wilton Library.

A baked-goods sale, a food court and select concessionaires, civic and educational exhibitions, a watermelon-eating contest sponsored by the Kirchof Family, and performances by local musicians will round out the day. Exhibited baked goods, fruits, vegetables, and flowers will be auctioned at 4:15 p.m. in the Grange Hall.

Cannon Grange No. 152 is grateful to its advertisers and sponsors who contribute to the success of the Fair. The Grange organizes activities, educational programs and fellowship for families, youth and adults. Semi-monthly business meetings are held at its 25 Cannon Rd. home base. Founded in 1899, Cannon Grange is a chapter of The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry, which was formed in 1867 to promote the economic and political well-being of communities and their agricultural interests.
