Longtime Wiltonians will remember when fellow residents’ Kacky and Phil Theoharides’ daughter Lyla was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. The Wilton community exploded with support for their family – and to support research for neuroblastoma. Events in town ranged from photo sessions and hair cutting to Ragnar Relay racing and silent auctions. Wilton rallied.

The Wilton-based organization Circle of Care also stepped in to help the Theoharides family on day one.

“When you’re told your child has cancer, you don’t know what to do… you don’t know what’s going on,” Phil Theoharides recalled. “Circle of Care came in and helped our family and so many others with their incredible generosity. They were the first line. Because of them… because they’ve been there, we were not alone.” That was 11 years ago, and Kacky and Phil have been giving back to Circle of Care ever since.

To show its appreciation, Circle of Care will be honoring Kacky and Phil Theoarides at its 20th Anniversary Gala on Thursday, June 13. Themed Kaleidoscope: Colors of Courage, this gala will be a festive evening that includes a cocktail reception, dinner, an auction, and lively entertainment to celebrate the children and families “in its Circle,” as well as the dedicated support of its volunteers and donors.

Top sponsors of the event include: the Kristoff Family, April and Michael Book, Lenox Advisors, MassMutual, Zelie and Andy Pforzheimer, Tonya and Matt Russo, Consigli Construction Co., Inc, Consigli Foundation, Mary and Ray Eckert, National Financial Partners, Margaret and Fred Podolsky, and Maria and Tom Wilcox.

For the past 20 years, Circle of Care has been providing practical, emotional, and financial assistance to children with cancer and their families with programs and services that meet the unique and challenging needs of pediatric cancer treatment. This includes financial assistance, peer counseling, day of diagnosis care packages, dream room makeovers, and activities for adolescents and young adults with cancer to connect with each other.

Over 300 individuals, business leaders, and families will attend the gala held at Abigail Kirsch at the Loading Dock in Stamford. Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are still available. Visit the event website for more information or to purchase tickets.
