The Wilton High School Project Graduation Party (PGP) is a parent-sponsored alcohol- and drug-free party held on the night of graduation. The Wilton Class Projects were formed in 1982 by the parents of the WHS Class of ‘88 in an effort to provide a safe environment for high school graduates to celebrate this major milestone.
But the goal of the Wilton Class Projects is not just to plan a party for the night after graduation. For the past 30 years the Projects also have been bringing parents together to improve networking and communication in the years leading up to graduation as well as to provide substance-free social activities for students as they move through their years in grades 7-12. The program is run through Wilton Youth Council.
The parents who are part of Project 2016, for this year’s junior class, recently held a fundraiser at Bianco Rosso Wine Bar and Restaurant. Mario Lopez, the owner of the Wilton restaurant, presented a $500 check to members of the Wilton Class Project 2016 Committee. Lopez donated a percentage of his restaurant’s sales as part of the event held on Thursday, Jan. 29, which raised nearly $700 for the 2016 Class Project Graduation Party.

The newest class to begin planning for PGP is the Class of 2020. Current 7th grade parents are invited to their first orientation meetings for Class Project 2020 on Tuesday, Feb. 24. Parents have the choice of attending one of two meetings: either Trackside Teen Center (15 Station Rd.) at 10 a.m. or at the Middlebrook cafeteria at 7:30 p.m.. Both meetings will present the same information and give parents the opportunity to learn all there is to know about what a class project is and how they can be a part of it.
