There have been several property sales in the last two weeks in Wilton–among them are a number of commercial buildings that have changed hands, signaling some shifts on Wilton’s business horizon.

  • Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County purchased the property at 22 Danbury Rd. from 22DR LLC for $1,400,000.

The property is the site of the former Hitchcock Fine Furnishings Store, which has been vacant for more than 10 years. An application for renovating the property was submitted to Wilton’s Planning & Zoning Department to convert the building from retail to office space, and a discussion has been scheduled for the Monday, May 14 meeting of the P&Z Commission.Just one year ago, another application had been filed for the parcel, with schematic plans and architectural drawings showing a proposed building with illustrations of signs reading Spotted Horse Tavern–the name of a successful Westport restaurant. That application was eventually withdrawn after that proposed sale fell through.

The property is immediately north of Gateway Plaza, the shopping center where TJ Maxx and Michael’s are located.

Visiting Nurse and Hospice currently has offices in iPark at 761 Main Ave., which straddles the border between Wilton and  Norwalk.

  • Thomas and Anne Sheridan sold 198 Danbury Rd. to 200 Danbury Road LLC for $1,050,000.The three-building property was home to Sheridan Interiors, a family-owned interior design business that is moving to 142 Danbury Rd./Lambert Corner. The buyer also purchased the parcel just north, at 200 Danbury Rd., in September, for what the New England Real Estate Journal wrote will be a possible mixed-use retail and residential development. The buyer is a local developer. That property has been home to Earth Garden, Susan’s Nails and Wilton Tailoring & Alterations, as well as the office of psychologist Dr. Susan Bauerfeld.
