The Wilton Newcomers Club (WNC) is preparing for a new year, and a new Board. For over 50 years, WNC has played a valuable role in Wilton. Whether freshly arrived in town or experiencing a life change (i.e. new baby, joining/leaving the workforce, marriage or divorce), many Wilton residents credit their closest friends to WNC, especially if they served as Board members together.

I joined Newcomers while I was still surrounded by half-packed cardboard boxes in Long Island. By the time I’d moved to Wilton, I was already signed up for a morning coffee and a couples’ evening get-together. Being active in WNC for the past four years has given me a solid base of friends, a comfortably full social calendar, and strong ties to this wonderful place we call home.

Commitments range from planning a few lunches a year, to organizing our fundraising efforts (we have given thousands of dollars to the Wilton Library, Wilton Social Services, Ambler Farm and many other, local philanthropic organizations), to writing our newsletters and so much more.

There are years when our Board feels almost intact from one year to the next, and years when it seems that nearly everyone is new, and eager to lead WNC into the future with fresh ideas and exciting plans. This year we have several positions open and are looking forward to filling them with women who would like to continue WNC’s proud traditions, while also making it representative of what Newcomers want today.

Are you interested in becoming more involved in town, building your social network, and adding to the deep well of community spirit we have in Wilton? We’d love to hear from you! And if you would like to share a Board seat with a friend, just let us know. Some positions, like Ladies’ Night Out, Socials, Luncheons, etc., are even more fun with a co-chair.

Please send an email or send me a Facebook message, or come to our Morning Coffee on Thursday, April 27 to learn more. Details can be found on the Wilton Newcomers Club website.
