GOOD Morning Wilton has learned of the sudden passing of beloved Wilton School bus driver David Chizmadia, 56, of Fairfield. Chizmadia passed away Sunday, Jan. 6.

Wilton Public Schools director of human resources and administration Maria Coleman emailed parents of children on his bus route with the sad news on Wednesday.

“I regret to inform you that David Chizmadia, bus driver of bus 10, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday evening. This news came as a great surprise to David’s family and friends, all of whom feel a great sense of loss,” wrote Coleman, who added that Chizmadia, the longtime driver on bus 10, “…loved his time transporting students in Wilton; he often shared stories with his family about how the students had brightened his day.”

The school is accepting condolence cards from students and families who wish to send a note to the Chizmadia family. They can be sent to the Wilton Public Schools, attention Fran Williams, P.O. Box 277, Wilton, CT 06897.

Coleman has also made counselors and school mental health staff available if parents would like access to support for their children. Parents can contact school administrators for more information about such help.
