Early Voting for the 2025 municipal elections is now open — registered voters can cast their votes beginning Monday, Oct. 20. Here’s everything you need to know about Early Voting in Wilton.

WHAT

Early Voting allows registered voters to cast ballots safely and securely in person before Election Day.

HOW is it different from Absentee Ballot Voting?

Early Voting is different from Absentee Ballot Voting in several important ways:

  • Early Voting is in person and you don’t need a reason to vote early. You also don’t have to fill out an application for a ballot first.
  • Absentee Ballot Voting requires a reason (active duty, out-of-town, illness, religious reasons, poll workers or physical disability) and a voter must first fill out an application and submit it to the Wilton Town Clerk. (For more information about Absentee Ballot Voting, visit the Wilton Registrar of Voters webpage or the CT Secretary of the State’s website.)
  • When you vote through Early Voting, you’ll fill out your ballot at the polling place, seal it in a special envelope, and then deposit it into a secure container. All ballots will stay sealed and be secured and stored, unopened until Election Day.
  • Absentee Ballots must be mailed to the Town Clerk or deposited in a Ballot Box at Town Hall.
  • Both Early Voting and Absentee Ballots will not be opened and counted until Election Day.

WHEN

Connecticut has 14 days of early voting:

  • every day from Monday, Oct. 20 through Sunday, Nov. 2. , from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • on Tuesday, Oct. 28 and Thursday, Oct. 30, polls are open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.

WHERE

In Wilton, early voting takes place at the Clune Center at Wilton High School (395 Danbury Rd.).

WHO

To be eligible to vote in Wilton, you must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • A resident of Wilton
  • At least 17 years of age, as long as you will turn 18 years old by Election Day
  • Finished confinement and parole, if previously convicted of a felony

WHAT IF I’M NOT REGISTERED? — SAME DAY REGISTRATION

While the deadline to register by mail, at the DMV, or online has passed, anyone who is not registered to vote but wants to do so can still register and vote the same day — through Same Day Voter Registration.

Bring proof of identity and proof of residence in Wilton, and allow extra time for registration and processing.

  • During EARLY VOTING: Register and vote every day Early Voting is open at the Clune Center polling place.
  • ELECTION DAY, Tuesday, Nov. 4: Register to vote on Election Day at Wilton Town Hall (238 Danbury Rd.) from 6 a.m.-8 p.m.

HOW can you be sure voters don’t vote TWICE?

According to the Secretary of the State’s office, election officials at Early Voting locations will record voters that have cast Early Voting ballots. Voter lists are maintained to prevent any duplicate voting by absentee ballot at Election Day polls.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Wilton has consolidated all three voting districts into one voting location. ALL districts will now vote at the Wilton High School Clune Center on Election Day (6 a.m.-8 p.m.). So Early Voting and Election Day Voting both take place at the one same location.
