In addition to candidate op-eds, our Special Election Issue also provides each political town committee with the opportunity to submit one, 600-word op-ed on behalf of its endorsed candidates running to represent Wilton, and/or platform. More information is available in GMW’s Election Guidelines and Policies.

We know you’ve heard plenty about the presidential race, and you’ve likely kept up with the U.S. Senate and House races, too. But right now, you have the opportunity to make a profound impact in a different way — by voting for Connecticut’s State Representative and State Senator. In these smaller, more intimate races, your voice truly matters. Our local districts are small — our State Representative district, for instance, includes Wilton and small parts of New Canaan and Ridgefield. That’s all. Your vote in these races is one of the few that will shape the future of our community and impact the lives of your family, friends, and neighbors.

Your choice in this election will have serious repercussions for your family and your safety (physical, mental, economic, etc.) for years to come, and the choices on key issues could not be starker. We need leaders who are committed to defending the values that make Wilton a special place to live. That’s why we’re proud to support two remarkable women, Kim Healy for State Representative and Kami Evans for State Senate, both of whom are ready to stand up for us in Hartford.

Consider what’s at stake:

  • Protecting Local Control: Wilton’s charm and quality of life are not accidental; they result from decades of local decision-making over zoning and education. We understand what’s best for our community and our children. Yet Ceci Maher and the Democrats in control in Hartford are pushing policies that would erode our local autonomy. We cannot let distant decision-makers impose changes that will impact our schools, neighborhoods, and way of life.
  • Affordability and Security: Connecticut’s energy costs are among the highest in the nation (fourth highest cost state, far above the median), and our taxes rank as among the most burdensome. These costs put a strain on family budgets and property values. A recent “public benefit” fee added to your monthly electricity bill (thanks to the majority party in the state legislature) was just one more egregious and unnecessary hit to our wallets. We need representatives who will fight for lower costs and financial stability.
  • Community Safety: No policy, no matter how popular with the majority party in Hartford, should ever jeopardize Wilton as a safe place to raise your children. Many of us came here to escape the chaos engulfing cities ruled by one party. We cannot allow that permissiveness to threaten our community.

Despite what you may have heard, neither Kim nor Kami would vote differently than their opponents on reproductive rights. Those rights are not on the ballot, but the future of our community is on it.

This election is your chance to make a real difference in the lives of your loved ones. Vote for the two candidates who will fight against the same single-party dominance that has ruined once beautiful places like California and New York.

A vote for Kim and Kami is a vote to restore balance, common sense, and local control to Connecticut. Trust the voices of women who understand and are ready to fight for the future of our families.

Please join us in supporting Kim and Kami. Thank you!
