UPDATE: This event has shifted to Sunday, Oct 23 due to the weather.
Driving along Rte. 7 toward Danbury, it’s impossible to miss the giant pink ribbons standing in front of Westwood Flooring and Design Center. That’s the first sign that the Wilton business has proclaimed its support for breast cancer awareness. The second sign are flyers and posters appearing all over town letting residents know about the Fall Family Fun Day that the home decor store is holding as a community-wide fundraiser for the fight against breast cancer.
This Saturday, Oct. 22, from 12-6 p.m., Westwood Flooring is hosting a community event and inviting all Wilton residents to enjoy music/DJ, face painting, pony rides, pumpkin decorating, a haunted fun house, BBQ, wine/craft beer tasting, 50/50 raffles and prizes donated by local merchants.
All proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation of Southern New England.
Patrick McCarney is the president and owner of the Westwood Flooring company, and it is his wife, Karen McCarney, who was instrumental in coordinating the fundraiser event. As a mammography technician, she sees the impact of the disease and was able to create a way to help raise awareness and research dollars.
