Compassion is in fashion, as evidenced by two Wilton business owners who are teaming up to raise money for an important local cause. Blue Star Bazaar, the on-trend women and teen’s clothing store, and Melly Bonita an independent stylist with Stella & Dot, are hosting the second annual “Fashion Forward” fundraiser fashion show event on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. at CronArt USA Gallery in Westport (31 Church Ln., Bedford Square). The event is also sponsored by Whip Salon (Westport and Ridgefield).
The fashion show will feature local models, and proceeds from ticket sales and raffles will benefit the family of Issy Kwei, a 12-year old Wilton resident, who was diagnosed in July 2018 with a rare germinoma at the brain stem. She underwent emergency neurosurgery to remove the tumor and is currently receiving chemotherapy treatment. Issy is expected to make a full recovery, however, faces months of medical treatments and rehabilitation therapies to help regain mobility and speech functions.
“Our hearts go out to Issy and the Kwei family,” said Megan Abrahamsen, owner of Blue Star Bazaar. “Banding together with like-minded local businesses, the goal is to raise money for the family to help alleviate the financial burden of the medical treatments.”
Last year’s Fashion Forward event raised funds to benefit benefit The Testaverde Fund for Spinal Cord Injury in support of Marshal Schoener, brother of Wilton resident, Randi McDonnell.
Tickets are $75 (adults only 21 and over), and entitles the ticket holder to a night of fashion that includes light bites and two beverage tickets. Tickets are available now for purchase online.
