Wilton Library
Wilton Library’s Giving Tree is an annual tradition that stands bright in the gallery each year at this time. The tree is a Wish List of items/materials/programs that the library would like to bring into the collection or provide to the community. Patrons simply pick the item on the special “ornament,” bring it to the circulation desk and pay for it. The item can be purchased in honor or in memory of someone, or to commemorate a special occasion. A lovely gift card is given to the purchaser, who in turn can give it to the person or family being honored. Where possible, a bookplate will be placed on the selected item to highlight the honoree. The item chosen for each category is a representation of what is currently on the tree. Items may go quickly but there are many choices in each category if the first request is not available. In addition to the Giving Tree, shoppers may wish to take the opportunity to purchase Wilton Library’s Giving Gelt, thereby giving a donation to the library for an item that will be purchased for the Children’s Library. Acknowledgements of the donations will be handled in the same fashion as the Giving Tree.
A perfect $20-$50 gift to the Library? Funding the purchase of the DVD The Opera House–Making the New Met ($35), for the library’s DVD collection.
Shoppers also are reminded of Wilton Library’s Holiday Book Sale in which bargains in all price ranges can be found on a daily basis.
The Giving Tree, Giving Gelt and Holiday Book Sale run through Dec. 29. The Wilton Library is located at 137 Old Ridgefield Rd.
