In advance of tonight’s Board of Finance deliberation meeting, where the BOF hopes to finalize the mil rate and proposed town budget, GOOD Morning Wilton published a poll on Monday, asking readers to tell us whether or not they supported the Board of Education‘s proposed budget. We asked them to cast a vote and let us know whether they thought the education budget should be cut further (from the 1.27-percent increase over last year) or if it should remain as the BOE presented it.
Of those casting votes, more than two-thirds (69-percent or 174) say they support the budget as it has been proposed by the Board of Education and the superintendent, Dr. Kevin Smith. In contrast, 31-percent (78) of the votes were in favor of cutting more.

As for what will happen at tonight’s meeting, we’ll have to wait until 7:30 p.m. when the Board of Finance will begin deliberating the mil rate setting. That takes place in Room B at Town Hall, and members of the public are welcome to attend.
*This is not a representative, scientific poll, nor was it conducted on behalf or in conjunction with any town or school entity.
