Happy 12th Anniversary, GOOD Morning Wilton!
As of Aug. 19, 2025, GOOD Morning Wilton is proud to celebrate our 12th year as Wilton’s only dedicated, independent, locally‑owned news source.
Over a decade ago, GMW was born to fill a growing gap in daily, hyperlocal reporting. Since then, it has remained the only outlet committed exclusively to Wilton — covering its government, schools, businesses and vibrant community life like no one else.
In the past year, our commitment to shining sunlight on public affairs and holding power to account has only strengthened. Here are some of the highlights from this year’s coverage:
- FOIA victories — Your trust and support helped fuel impactful open‑records reporting that brought transparency to Wilton’s town processes, finances and leadership.
- Holding power to account — Our team consistently ensured town leaders were on the record — reporting on executive sessions, budget gaps and administrative changes with clarity and fairness. Example: when a Board of Selectmen meeting was scheduled as a closed-door session, GMW raised questions, published facts, and prompted officials to open it to the public.
- Exclusive and first‑report stories — From uncovering the CFO’s dual‑role revelations to on-the-scene election and vote results, GMW brings you news first and that you won’t find elsewhere. Example: When results were in from the Annual Town Meeting, we reported them within minutes — not days, like our legacy competition.
- Timely coverage of critical developments — Whether it was uncovering audit findings or tracking decisions about municipal credit distributions, we provided timely, informed reporting when the town needed it most. Example: When news broke about the senior living development proposed for the School Sisters of Notre Dame property — GMW published the story a full week before anyone else.
- Community‑centered storytelling — Beyond hard news, we amplified stories celebrating Wilton’s people, events and institutions — helping build connection and local pride. Example: when no one else covered Memorial Day activities in Wilton, we produced a full guide for the weekend’s events.
These efforts reflect our core mission: to inform, engage and empower every reader with journalism rooted in Wilton.
Imagine Wilton Without GOOD Morning Wilton
Producing high‑quality, independent local journalism isn’t free — it relies on community backing. As reporting needs grow and advertising pressures mount, reader memberships are more critical than ever for sustaining GMW. Now more than ever, rising costs and shrinking ad budgets make direct support from readers essential — and GMW continues to rely on your generosity to stay in existence.
