GOOD To Aim High: U.S. News & World Report Ranks Wilton High School 7th in Connecticut

U.S. News & World Report released its 2026-2027 Best High Schools issue earlier this month, ranking Wilton High School seventh within Connecticut, out of 200 high schools in the state. 

Wilton High School dropped two points from last year, when the magazine ranked the school fifth in Connecticut.

The annual list ranks nearly 18,000 out of more than 27,000 public high schools evaluated by the magazine in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Wilton is ranked No. 300 in the National Rankings (exactly the same as 2025) and at no. 60 on the list of Best STEM High Schools.

The six Connecticut schools that ranked ahead of WHS include four schools in Wilton’s DRG [District Reference Group] (marked with an asterisk): Connecticut IB Academy in East Hartford at number 1; Greenwich High School at number 2; Weston High School* at number 3; Darien High School* at number 4; Staples High School* (Westport) at number 5; and New Canaan High School* at number 6.

Two other DRG-A schools followed behind WHS: Ridgefield High School at number 9 and Joel Barlow High School in Redding at number 12. The complete list ranking Connecticut schools is available online.

U.S. News & World Report creates its rankings of public schools based on performance on state-required tests, graduation rates and college readiness measures, curriculum breadth and overall student outcomes. According to a press release, the magazine “evaluated the schools on how effectively they serve all students, including underserved populations, with college readiness specifically measured through student participation and performance on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate exams.”

WHS received an overall score of 98.33; 55% of the students took at least one AP exam, 49% passed at least one AP exam, and the graduation rate was 98%.

GOOD To Come Out & Run: Wilton Pride and Wilton Library Present Third Annual Come Out & Run 5K on Sept. 20

Registration is open online for the third annual Come Out & Run 5K on Sunday, Sept. 20, co-hosted by Wilton Pride and Wilton Library. Starting and ending at the Wilton Town Green, the race begins at 9 a.m. with a spirited kickoff at 8:30 a.m. with this year’s first Stiletto Dash.

Part 5K, part community party, Come Out & Run brings the community together in unity and celebration of pride. This family-friendly event features music, festivities, food, flair, prizes and more in honor of National Coming Out Day in October. Organizers say the event fosters “camaraderie, empowerment and support for our LGBTQIA+ community members and allies.”

Runners, walkers, kids, strollers and leashed dogs are all able to participate. The registration fee is $30 per person for ages 10 and older; kids under 10 can participate for free. All paying participants will receive swag plus access to digital photos, event festivities and more.

The Stiletto Dash is a spirited, 30-yard dash on the Wilton Town Green right before the 5K. This fun sprint is all about grace, style and speed all while running in heels at least 3 inches tall. Runners wearing Pride attire get an extra edge by scoring preferred placement right at the front of the starting line.

GOOD To Learn: Wilton YMCA Hosting Menopause Seminar

Members of the community are invited to attend a seminar at the Wilton Family YMCA presented by Olivia Eisner, certified nurse midwife, to learn about menopause, gain insight on management options and strategies to manage the dynamics of menopause and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Eisner, the program director for the menopause and sexual health program at Northwell Health Women’s Wellness Center, will be leading the discussion on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 12-1 p.m. in the Northwell Health suite at the YMCA.
