Saturday morning the Wilton Democratic Town Committee held its annual spring breakfast. Organizers had an already full menu of events planned — included on the list of speakers were Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas, Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz. former State Sen. Will Haskell and State Rep. Savet Constantine;, Board of Education Chair Ruth DeLuca was named the “Democrat of the Year;” and State Sen. Ceci Maher, who earlier this year announced she was not going to run for reelection, was given a tribute.

There was one off-the-menu item for the breakfast, however. Gov. Ned Lamont attended the event to give his remarks to Wilton’s Democrats.

Credit: Trout Unlimited

Learn fishing and fly fishing skills, stock and catch trout, discover the aquatic life beneath the surface of the Norwalk River and much more when the expert anglers from the Mianus Chapter of Trout Unlimited host a free, fun, Family Fishing Clinic and Kids Trout Stocking Day this Saturday, May 9 from 10:30 a.m.–1 p.m. at Merwin Meadows.

Saturday is also free fishing day in the State of Connecticut — no fishing license is required on that day! Whether you are a beginner who’s never held a fly rod, or are an experienced angler, you’re sure to learn from our expert angling instructors.

Along with casting lessons and knot tying instruction, there will be demonstrations and hands-on activities, including how to read and fish the Norwalk River and what bugs live in the river that trout feed on.

The state’s stocking truck will arrive with trout around 11 a.m. with hundreds of fish for kids to stock in the river. Be sure to bring a bucket if you’ve got one!

Biking in all forms gives us the freedom of movement, gets us outdoors and is a great way for us to interact with our friends and our community. Of course, being safe on the road is key to that freedom, especially when it comes to e-bike safety.

Join the Town of Wilton’s Youth Services Department for a virtual conversation on Wednesday, May 13, at 7-8 p.m. aimed at adults and parents, with a panel of experts who will share the latest information and advice on how to keep kids safer on the road. This conversation emphasizes a multi-pronged approach and will specifically discuss visibility, indication of movement, bike choices, new Connecticut e-bike legislation and why this is all so important.

The panel will be moderated by Wilton’s Youth Services Coordinator Trinity Haswell, LCSW, and panelists include: Melanie Pearl, PhD; Ride On, LLC CEO Kathryn Haavik; CT Department of Transportation Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator Paul Ashworth; Wilton Police Department Officer Christopher Ventura; and an emergency department physician from Stamford Health.

This program is presented in collaboration by Wilton Library, Wilton Police Department, Wilton Social Services and Wilton Youth Council. Contact Haswell with questions at 203.834.6241, ext. 1608, or via email

Registration is suggested online. The meeting will be held via Zoom.

GOOD Mental Health: Wilton Library Builds Awareness

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and Wilton Library has teamed up with Wilton Youth Council’s Mental Health Task Force, and other community partners to help build awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness, as well as the increasing mental health challenges that people of all ages are facing, including in the Wilton community.

The library has loads of books and resources available for all ages. Also making a statement? All the green and white pinwheels set up in front of the library throughout May. The 290 green pinwheels represent Wilton calls to public resources (e.g. 211 and 988) related to mental health in 2025; the 435 white pinwheels represent the 3-in-5 Wilton residents who suffer from mental health challenges but did not reach out for help.

Check out the resources offered at the library and upcoming events scheduled around the topic on the library website. Help is available: Help is available: Call 211; Call, text, or chat 988.
