GOOD to Remember: Community Invited to Wilton Fire Department’s 9/11 Memorial Ceremony, Commemorating 25th Anniversary

The Wilton Fire Department will hold its annual 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 11, at 10 a.m. at Wilton Fire Headquarters (236 Danbury Rd.) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

As it does each year, the Fire Department invites the Wilton community to join department members in remembering those who lost their lives and honoring the courage and sacrifice of first responders and all who continue to serve. The ceremony is open to everyone to attend.

GOOD To Move to the Beat: Wilton Library’s JazzFest to Entertain the Town this Weekend

Wilton Library‘s inaugural Wilton JazzFest takes place this Friday, Aug. 28 and Saturday, Aug. 29, with an all-star lineup of outstanding world-class jazz artists. Even better — it’s free and open to the public.

On Friday night (7 p.m.), Grammy-winning pianist Taylor Eigsti performs with special guests in the Brubeck Room at Wilton Library. Unfortunately, registration is full for this performance.

On Saturday, the festival moves to Schenck’s Island and it’s open to all ages, no registration or fee is required. The gate opens at 11 a.m., and seating is first come, first served. Food, drink and merchandise vendors will be available onsite.

On Saturday, (12 p.m.) the first to take the stage is acclaimed trumpeter Alphonso Horne and the Gotham Kings. 

The world-renowned Brubeck Brothers Quartet, led by Wilton’s own Chris and Dan Brubeck, will perform next (1:45 p.m.).

Then, the headliner Paquito D’Rivera will lead his Quintet. (3:30 p.m.) D’Rivera, a 16-time Grammy- and Latin Grammy-winning, Cuban-born saxophonist, clarinetist and composer, is celebrated for bridging the worlds of jazz, Latin music and classical repertoire.

Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are allowed on the festival grounds. There is no rain date. If inclement weather prevents outdoor performances, all Saturday concerts will take place at the Clune Center for the Arts at Wilton High School. 

GOOD To Meet: Lessons in Chemistry author Bonnie Garmus Coming to Wilton Library

Wilton Library recently announced that Bonnie Garmus, The New York Times bestselling author of Lessons in Chemistry, will be coming to Wilton as the second adult author in the library’s ASML Author Series.

Garmus will be featured in conversation with author Debby Applegate on Thursday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m., discussing Lessons in Chemistry and her soon-to-be published second novel, Peck & Peck. There will be a Q&A session following the author talk.

Both books will be available to purchase at the event. Registration will open on Sept. 8 at 2 p.m., at which time patrons can register online or call 203.762.6334.

GOOD To Recreate: Wilton Parks & Recreation 2026-’27 Fall/Winter Online Registration Opens

The Wilton Parks and Recreation Department has opened its online registration for its 2026-27 Fall/Winter programs. The brochure is not yet available but Parks & Rec Program Coordinator Jim Lewicki said it will be posted online in a couple of weeks, and anyone with questions can contact him at 203.834.6234, ext. 4 or via email.

Programs include youth sports, adult programs, youth and teen programs, camps, preschool programs, dog training and more. Visit the Parks & Recreation Department website for more details.
