Person-to-Person (P2P) is hosting its second Election Day Food Drive at all Wilton polling sites on Tuesday, Nov. 8.

P2P is asking for voters to bring non-perishable food items to their local Wilton polling site to help stock the P2P emergency food pantry. Polling locations include Middlebrook School, Cider Mill School and the Wilton High School Field House; P2P will set up donation boxes at each of the polling sites.

Last year, P2P volunteers collected 2,800 pounds of food valued at $3,100. The donated food benefited low-income individuals and families in across Fairfield County. In fact, thanks to last year’s election day donation drive, P2P was able to provide P2P clients with groceries for more than 525,000 meals.

In 2012, Person-to-Person served more than 13,000 people with groceries for meals and have a constant need for non-perishable food items. Nearly 11-percent of people living in Fairfield County are struggling with food insecurity. What’s more, 1 in 6 children don’t know where their next meal is coming from.

This is the second year of the P2P Election Day Food Drive.
