Thursday, March 1 is the 5th annual Fairfield County Giving Day, the region’s biggest philanthropic event that allows the local community to make a difference right at home, raising as much money as possible for local nonprofit organizations in just 24 hours through online donations.

Last year, almost 14,000 people donated more than $1.5 million to 414 nonprofits. This year there are 18 organizations based in Wilton hoping to win funding support for the amazing work they do locally.

They are:

A Better Chance of Wilton
Ambler Farm
Animals in Distress
Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation
Friends of the Norwalk River Valley Trail
Music on the Hill
Riverbrook Regional YMCA/Wilton Family Y
The Salvation Army (Wilton Service Unit)
Trackside Teen Center
Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Fairfield County
Wilton Historical Society
Wilton Land Conservation Trust
Wilton Library Association
The Wilton Playshop
Wilton Singers
Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps
Wilton Youth Council
Woodcock Nature Center

Fairfield County Giving Day is hosted by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation, with lead sponsor Bank of America.

The excitement of Giving Day begins Thursday, March 1 at midnight. Individuals can go to FCGives.org and make a donation to the nonprofit or cause close to their heart. The minimum donation is $10 and there is no maximum.

The event is also a powerful fundraising competition of sorts, where the non-profits can win additional cash prizes based on how much in donations they raise during the 24 hours. Gifts–whatever the size–will help these 18 Wilton nonprofits compete for over $100,000 in cash prizes ranging from $250 to $20,000. Whether you give $10 or $1,000, all donations will make a difference.
