A Dummy’s Guide for Home Energy Upgrades workshop will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. in the Wilton Library. Workshop attendees will learn how to save money on utility bills while having a more comfortable home. Presenters will explain the benefits of weatherization, air sealing, solar and alternative options for heating and cooling your home such as ductless heat pumps.
The workshop will review why ductless heat pumps are an affordable heating alternative to traditional methods such as oil, propane, or electric baseboard. Ductless heat pumps are widely used in Europe and Asia as heating and cooling systems and are increasing in popularity here in the US.
Connecticut rebates, incentives and financing options that help reduce the upfront cost of these energy efficiency measures will also be discussed. Two Wilton residents will be providing testimonials about their experience of implementing additional energy efficiency measures including solar and insulation. An approved home energy contractor will be present to answer questions.
