We put out the call for pictures of Wilton Wildlife, and you — well, basically you went wild with submitting great photos of all the various fauna amidst the flora of Wilton. From birds of prey to preying felines to foxes and fawns and fabulous insects, you’ve shown the varied animal world with whom we share Wilton.

Here’s a selection of the great images our GOOD Morning Wilton readers sent us–thanks to all of you who did submit pictures.  We’re not sure whether we should be scared or amazed at the animal life around us!

Jon Damast predator birds Clover Dr
Reader Jon Damast see this gorgeous guy and his buddies in the Clover Dr. area each day.  Jon thinks it might be a red-tailed hawk, and says they’re very loud!
Lisa Lombardi fledgelings
Lisa Lombardi and her son found these fledglings, rescuing them before her dog could get to them. When she took them to Wildlife in Crisis, they told her that fledglings are kicked out of the nest, but their parents still care for them. Sometimes predators get to them before they can fly, but it’s best to leave them alone and let nature run it’s course.
Lisa Lombardi baby deer
Lisa Lombardi also saw this baby deer, which was very wobbly and just figuring out the whole walking thing, along with its sibling and their mama.

These next photos are from reader Colleen O’Brien, who wrote us:  “I love the idea of featuring the wildlife we live with!  I’ve attached photos we have taken on our property over the years.  Our property is next to Allen’s Meadow and across from Saunders Pond, so we benefit from the open space and get to see all kinds of terrific wildlife, especially birds.  We’ve seen quite a lot of exciting animals over the years, including a black bear, bobcat, mink, a long-tailed weasel, and more, but we have no photographs of those…okay, I included a ridiculously blurry photo of a bear.  We can’t wait to see what will visit this year!” Colleen, thank you for sharing all of these, including the blurry bear picture!

karen sackowitz moth
Karen Sackowitz spotted this incredible spotted moth in her backyard. Spots like that are worth spotting!

These images sent by Karen Murchison were so incredible we wanted to include the whole series. She photographed this baby fox in her Thayer Pond Rd. front yard–it was waiting for its mother who had headed off into the woods. The foxes have a den in Karen’s neighbor’s backyard.
