Our friends at JoyRide Wilton are seeking to fill two openings, a general manager and a part-time front desk staff member and they’ve sent these job descriptions:

  • JoyRide Wilton is seeking a part-time front desk staff member, must be able to start immediately. The job entails greeting riders and working at the front desk answering phones and handling retail sales and keeping the studio running smoothly. The hours are 2-3 mornings per week from approximately 8 a.m.-12 noon, one 5 a.m.-6:45 a.m. shift per week, and one weekend morning.   • JoyRide Wilton – General manager (part-full time)JoyRide Wilton, Wilton’s only dedicated boutique indoor cycling studio, is seeking an exceptional part time or full time general manager with a love of health and fitness and excitement about our brand. You will be responsible for managing the day to day operations of the studio and a staff of 5 front desk staff. Your role will include a mixture of front desk tasks and management tasks.

    Front desk responsibilities:
    – Greeting and welcoming customers
    – Helping customers with bike setup
    – Keeping the studio clean & tidy
    – Laundering and folding towels
    – Fitting and selling merchandise
    – Answering customer queries and booking requests by email, phone and social media
    – Performing transactions in our point of sale system
    – Some light social media picture taking & posting
    – Helping instructors before, during and after class

    Management responsibilities:
    – Managing and training front desk staff
    – Scheduling employees’ work hours
    – Keeping track of inventory
    – Managing cash on hand and cash deposits
    – Assisting with recruiting/interviewing/training new staff members as needed
    – Assist owners with marketing initiatives
    – Assist with event/spinraiser planning and execution
    – Work closely with the owners to keep them apprised of any issues and to help drive continuous improvement in how the studio operates

    Personal & physical qualities required:
    – A positive, can-do attitude and desire to take initiative/ownership over issues
    – An extroverted personality and ability to interact well with the public
    – Friendly and professional phone and email etiquette
    – Ability to well represent the JoyRide aesthetic, appearance & culture
    – Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced and sometimes chaotic environment
    – Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    – The ability to work a flexible schedule including some early mornings and late evenings
    – Must be able to stand for long durations of time, and be able to kneel, bend, reach, & climb
    – Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 25lbs
    – Ability to work at least 25 hours a week

    Desired Experience:
    – College degree a plus
    – Experience working or managing staff in a customer-facing/hospitality industry a plus
