Shop for mom and help out Wilton Public Schools at the same time. That’s the idea behind a Mother’s Day shopping promotion that Kimco has put together for the Wilton River Park Shopping Center.

Starting Sunday, May 6 and running through Sunday, May 13, many of the retailers and restaurants in the Kimco Wilton River Park Shopping Center will donate 15% of sales* to the PTAs of the Wilton Public Schools. Money raised will support teacher grants, year books, staff hospitality, speaker series and other enrichment programs at all four schools–Miller-Driscoll School, Cider Mill School, Middlebrook Middle School, and Wilton High School.

Kimco has been trying to become more involved in the Wilton community. The promotion was put together by Sarah McCall, a Wilton resident Kimco hired as marketing coordinator to explore partnerships with local organizations. Most recently Kimco has sponsored a Little League team, bought a banner at the Wilton High School stadium, hosted a Wilton Girl Scout meeting, and worked with Middlebrook’s Youth to Youth and the Wilton Woman’s Club. Partnering with the Wilton Public School PTAs on the Mother’s Day fundraiser is the latest effort.

“So many people in town are invested in the schools and we thought this promotion in particular would garner a lot of support from the community,” McCall says.

Shoppers need to bring in the flyer (below) or mention “Wilton Public Schools PTAs” to secure the donation. (*Some exceptions to the 15% are noted on the flyer.)

The businesses that are participating in the promotion are Campus Jewelers, Goldenberry, Happy Hands Pottery, No. 299 (the new pop-up shop), Parlor Pizza and Bar by Tim LaBant, Personal Training Professionals, River Road Gallery, SDSS Martial Arts, Snappy Gator, Sola Salons, Sweet Pierre’s, and Tom E Toes.
