Letter to the Editor:

A thank-you to our great community and town! The Wilton Chamber of Commerce kicked off its annual HalloWeekend, which began on Saturday, Oct. 28 with the Pumpkin Parade and Trick-or-Treating. It was another splendid day and hundreds of trick-or-treaters and their parents, families, friends and pets gathered in Wilton Center for some Halloween fun as they strolled through town collecting treats from Wilton merchants and businesses. Thank-you to Bankwell, our event sponsor, and to all our generous merchants and businesses who participated and also joined us at the Gazebo! A special thank-you to Dr. Michael Crystal, our Cat in the Hat, and Janet Crystal, Jeannette Ross, and Susan Goldman for hosting our table at the Chamber and distributing an amazing number, way over a thousand, treats!

The next morning, the challenging rain did not deter many determined runners from our Sunday, Oct. 29, 15th Annual Halloween Hustle 5k and Scarecrow Scamper Kids Run. We would like to thank everyone for their contributions, as participants, sponsors and as volunteers, it could not happen without you! Thank you so much to our volunteers who also braved the rain! Bankwell’s Jazmin Vaughn and Scott Henion; to Sheila Higgins, Robin Roscillo and Chamber board members Michael Smith, Brian Perry, Kevin Valerie, and Susan Goldman.

A special thank you to, our Wilton Police Department, Pat Russo and the CERT team, Steve Pierce and the Department of Parks and Recreation, the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, our Wilton Fire Department, 95 The Fox, the Wilton Rotary Club, Paul Hafter and William Meehan, The Wilton Library, our sponsors Bankwell, the Village Market, Ellen Essman, CPA, Halstead Property, Kimco Realty, The Goddard School, Coldwell Banker, Fairfield County Bank, Michael Kaelin, ESQ., Gregory & Adams, P. C., The Greens at Cannondale, Wilton Center Travel, Wilton Hardware, and Untangled. Also, thank you to our exhibitors–Westy Storage, AFC Urgent Care, The Democratic Town Committee, The Wilton Police Union, Budget Blinds, The Goddard School, The Wilton Congregational Church, Lewis School of Driving , Melissa Rotini and The Wilton Children’s Theater.

Our sincere appreciation goes everyone who participated and supported this jam-packed, fall celebration. Whether you and your wee goblins paraded through town for a spooky afternoon with Wilton merchants or dined in our town by trying new restaurants and revisiting old favorites, we thank you.

Please remember to shop Wilton and support your local businesses!
