Wilton Library‘s New Perspectives Film Series is screening a provocative documentary called Blackfish on Saturday, Oct. 11 at 7:30 p.m..
This emotionally-wrenching documentary tells the story of Tilikum, a performing killer whale that killed several people while in captivity. Along the way, director-producer Gabriela Cowperthwaite compiles shocking footage and impassioned interviews to explore the creature’s extraordinary nature, the species’ cruel treatment in captivity, the lives and losses of the trainers and the pressures brought to bear by the multi-billion dollar sea-park industry. The movie, released in 2013, is rated PG-13, and is 83 minutes long.
The New Perspectives Film Series is programmed and moderated by filmmaker (and Wilton resident) Megan Smith-Harris. Advance registration is highly recommended. For more information, call 203.762.3950, ext. 213. There is a suggested donation of $5, and refreshments will be served.
