Wilton SafeRides was the beneficiary of generous donations from three local businesses in Wilton last month. Splash Car Wash, Village Market and Fresh Green Light each presented $500 checks to the student-run organization, which targets driving under the influence by offering free, anonymous rides to high school students on Friday and Saturday nights.
The funds will be used to cover the cost of insurance, telephone and other miscellaneous expenses.
Representatives of each business presented the checks to this year’s Wilton SafeRides’ co-presidents Jillian Lauricella and Tucker Bendix: Mark Curtis, president and CEO of Splash Car Wash; Nancy Dolnier is manager of the Village Market; and Steve Mochel is the founder and CEO of Fresh Green Light.
With more than 150 student and adult volunteers, SafeRides operates out of Trackside Teen Center and provides safe rides home to Wilton High School students on Friday and Saturday nights from 10 p.m.-2 a.m..
