Fairfield County Bank has teamed with Yale New Haven Health to sponsor a Car Seat Safety and Inspection Day as a service to residents. Certified child passenger safety technicians–policemen from surrounding towns–will be available to assist with proper installation and to answer any questions.

According to Safe Kids, 73-percent of car seats are not properly installed before leaving the driveway.

Bank officials wanted to do something about that to help families in Wilton.

“When provided the opportunity to coordinate Car Seat Safety and Inspection Day with Yale New Haven Hospital’s Injury Prevention department, we could not wait to get involved. The safety of our community is very important to us and providing a local place for families throughout our community to come and meet with a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician seemed like an excellent way to show how much we care, says Carol Johnson, bank vice president and Wilton branch manager.

She says the safety technicians, who are all from local police departments, will be available to install, check current installation, provide facts and tips about car seat safety, and answer any questions families may have.

The event will be held this Saturday, Oct. 22 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Wilton branch of Fairfield County Bank (190 Ridgefield Rd.).
