Parenting expert and psychologist Dr. Susan Bauerfeld presents “Plug in to Your Kids: A Calm, Connected Approach to Managing Media” this Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 10 – 11:30 a.m. at the Wilton Library. The lecture is being co-sponsored by the Wilton Youth Council, Parent Connection and the Wilton Library.
Most parents did not grow up in media saturated environments like we have today. This workshop will consist of 1) an educational presentation about the neurobiological mechanisms underlying anxiety/worry/fear and how they adversely impact most parents’ approach to media use and 2) time and tools for each participant to begin working on their own family media management plan.
Participants will be encouraged to spend some time exploring and reflecting on their own thoughts and feelings about media and media use. The focus will be on how to develop perspectives and skills that teach and model self-regulation as well as foster the development of effective media management strategies.
Susan Bauerfeld, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist, parent coach, ADHD coach, and mother of three boys. There is no charge to attend; registration is strongly encouraged on the Wilton Library website.
