Spring is in the air as Miller-Driscoll School excitedly prepares for its second annual spring carnival, now renamed the “Wilton Spring Spectacular.” This year’s carnival will feature rides, games and attractions for all ages and will take place on April 10 from 5-9 p.m., April 11 from 12-9 p.m. and April 12 from 12-5 p.m..
Last year’s inaugural carnival was a great success and a welcome event for the community. As a fundraiser, the carnival helped the Miller-Driscoll PTA raise $15,000 towards fundraising goals, and organizers hope to surpass that figure this year.
“Our first carnival was truly spectacular,” said Cheryl Jensen-Gerner, Miller-Driscoll principal. “From the attendance, to the food to the support we received from so many local business in the community, it truly exceeded our expectations and we look forward to another successful event this year.”
The PTA is currently gathering sponsorships from local organizations and businesses. The Wilton Kiwanis Club will be the exclusive provider of food and refreshments at the carnival including hot dogs, hamburgers and fried dough.
“Early bird” wristbands will go on sale starting on March 9 for $20 (regular price $25). All those who purchase a wristband on or before March 20 will save $5 and get a token for a free game. Additionally, every “Early Bird” purchaser will get entered into a drawing for a family pack of 4 wristbands.
The PTA will also hold a pre-sale night at Peachwave Yogurt on April 6 from 3–8 p.m.. A portion of yogurt sales from that evening will be donated to the Miller-Driscoll PTA.
All PTA funds raised help provide Miller-Driscoll students with enrichment programs, new library books, fine arts programming, educational workshops and much more. The fundraising also supports teachers and administrators by fulfilling grant requests and providing the school with materials not normally provided to them. Finally, these efforts also make possible certain class-wide celebrations to celebrate significant milestones that otherwise may not happen.
