It’s finally here. Not just Spring, but the Spring Minks to Sinks sale. Now that the tents are up, the more than 175 Minks to Sinks volunteers will be prepped and ready to take in consignments and donations for this popular event. The sale starts Saturday, May 3, and consignments and donations will be accepted at the Minks to Sinks site at the intersection of School Rd. and Rt. 7 on Tuesday, April 29 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; Wednesday, April 30 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-6 p.m.; and Thursday, May 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m..
People wishing to consign or donate items are encouraged to go to the Minks to Sinks website, at www.minkstosinks.info, to review the list of items accepted before bringing their merchandise to the tents.
Minks to Sinks enables people to recycle items they have never used or no longer need and turn those goods into cash by consigning or donating them for the sale. It also provides hundreds of shoppers, some who come every year from as far away as Massachusetts, with bargains on new and gently used household items, furniture, luggage, garden tools, kids toys, sports equipment, seasonal clothing and of course, minks and sinks. Most importantly, it raises money for Family & Children’s Agency, the Norwalk-based non-profit agency that provides much needed social services to individuals and families in need in the surrounding communities.
After over 83 years, the sale is a finely-tuned, well-oiled machine, and nothing can dampen the spirits of the volunteers, and the hundreds of shoppers, who make the sale a success year after year. It is a daunting task to sort, price, organize, and display all the merchandise that comes in for the sale, but every year, the volunteers come through and do what it takes to be ready to open for business at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning. And every year, shoppers find amazing bargains on exactly what they are looking for. No wonder it’s called “the biggest treasure hunt in town,” and it may just be the biggest outdoor tag sale in Connecticut.
The spring Minks to Sinks sale runs from Saturday, May 3–Monday, May 5, and it opens at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 3. Bargain days are Sunday, May 4 from noon-4 p.m. and Monday, May 5 from 9 a.m.–noon.
