The Wilton Garden Club will hold its 76th Annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale on Friday, May 8 from 12 – 6 p.m. and Saturday, May 9 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., rain or shine, at the Wilton Town Green (101 Old Ridgefield Rd.).

There will also be a Pre-Sale event, open to the public, at the Club’s greenhouse at Comstock Community Center (180 School Rd.), on Wednesday, May 6, from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m..

The Club’s Plant Sale is a GOOD source for remarkable gardening. Shoppers will find more than 1,000 extraordinary perennials, most hand-dug from members’ gardens. The Club will offer unique and colorful annuals, an impressive range of herbs, vegetables, grasses, groundcovers, wildflowers, ferns, trees, and shrubs.  There will also be a selection of native plants, as well as plants that attract butterflies, bees and birds.

Looking for a unique Mother’s Day gift? The sale will have many beautiful hanging baskets, decorative centerpieces, patio planters, herb containers, vegetable bowls, terrariums, troughs, and much more. In addition, seven different varieties of Offinger tomato plants grown by local farmers Adrian Offinger and his son, Don, will be available for purchase. This is the Club’s 22nd year offering Offinger’s tomatoes, which are only available to the public through the Club’s plant sale.

New this year:

  • “Gardens Under Glass,” including terrariums and glass globes planted with an assortment of easy-to-maintain succulents and tillandsias
  • Organically grown herbs from Ambler Farm
  • Much wider selection of ornamental grasses
  • Kid’s Corner, featuring supervised children’s activities while parents shop
  • Award-winning dahlia tubers

Need help? The Club will have garden consultants available to describe the sale’s expanded selection of “Members’ Choice” plant recommendations, a select group of “overachieving plants” that no garden should be without. Deer resistive plants will be labeled, so that homeowners who are weary of spraying their plants to thwart the determined deer population can include these intrepid plants in their landscape.

The Wilton Garden Club Annual Mother’s Day Plant Sale is the Club’s primary fundraiser. Proceeds realized from this sale are used to fund its various civic projects, which include the maintenance of most of Wilton’s public gardens, as well as the club’s various programs, the operation of its greenhouse, and it’s many philanthropic endeavors.

Cash, checks and credit cards are accepted. There will also be wagons and assistance transporting purchases to cars.

“All year long we look forward to the Plant Sale and can’t wait to show the community our many new plants and Mother’s Day gifts. Come early, bring a friend and happy shopping!” says Wilton Garden Club president, Nan Merolla.
