It’s time to pay the taxman.

Wilton town officials want resident to know that municipal property taxes are due this Saturday, July 1.

The Town of Wilton tax collector has mailed tax bills for real estate and property taxes due for Fiscal Year 2018.

Real estate and personal property tax bills of $100 or less, and all motor vehicle taxes are due in a single installment on July 1. Real estate taxes and personal property in excess of $100 are due in two equal installments on July 1 and January 1.

The bill sent by the tax collector is the only bill that the town will send this year; however, it reflects payments due for both deadlines–the first is due on July 1, 2017 and the second is due on January 1, 2018. The town will not send a second municipal tax bill in December. Any supplemental motor vehicle tax bills received in December are due on January 1.

Payments not made within one month of the due dates are considered delinquent and incur interest at the rate of 1.5% per month from the due dates. Delinquent motor vehicle taxes will prevent owners from registering any vehicle until released by the Tax Collector.  Delinquent motor vehicle taxes must be paid in cash for anyone requiring a release; if paid on-line or by check there is a 10 business day waiting period.

Town of Wilton taxes can be paid on-line for only $0.50 for a bank account transaction. Taxes are also payable in person or by mail at the Tax Collector’s Office, Town Hall, 238 Danbury Road, Wilton.  The tax collector’s office hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
