Take Care Counseling Center opened in August in the Barringer Building at 80 Old Ridgefield Rd.. Opened by therapist Brandi Matz, MSW, LCSW, the center offers individual therapy to adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, parenting, and relationship issues, as well as individual and group therapy for adolescents with substance use concerns.

According to a press release, Take Care is the only program in CT utilizing a program called Theracoustic Audio Therapy, a sound and vibration therapy said to create new neural pathways to promote a sense of calm and well being. It is used in conjunction with individual therapy or used alone.

The release states:  “Studies have shown a symptom reduction by more than 60-percent by the third session. This program would benefit anyone who suffers from anxiety, depression or sleep issues as well as anyone who wants more balance in their life.”

Take Care is beginning parenting groups that will meet every other week. The upcoming groups include:  parenting (groups will be divided by age of same children); parenting a child with anxiety; and adolescent substance use groups.
