The following is a press release from the Wilton Public School’s superintendent’s office:

Wilton Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Lauren Feltz as the next principal of Middlebrook School. An experienced educator who has been working in the field for nineteen years, Feltz is uniquely qualified for this position. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and education from Mount Holyoke College and master’s degrees from Cambridge College and The Graduate Institute.

Feltz’s career began in Wilton, where she served as a first and second grade teacher at Driscoll School for thirteen years. In the latter part of her teaching career, Feltz also led curriculum efforts as the mathematics instructional leader for Miller and Driscoll Schools.

After an accomplished career in Wilton, Feltz was selected to be the assistant principal at Emma Hart Willard School in Berlin, CT, where she supported students and staff from 2010 until 2013. For the past three years, Ms. Feltz has served successfully as the principal of Middlebury Elementary School. As principal, she was the sole administrator, instructional leader, school climate specialist, and chair for SRBI and PPT meetings. Ms. Feltz led numerous efforts to improve instruction and strengthen school climate, including: the implementation of reading and writing workshop, the development of an advisory program, participation in Instructional Rounds, and the improvement of school-based volunteerism.

Feltz was selected for this position after an in-depth search and interview process. She was chosen from a pool of over forty applicants, after which she participated in three separate interviews and hosted a small group for a site visit at Middlebury Elementary School. During the interview process, Feltz impressed the broad-based committees with her unwavering commitment to ensuring that all students achieve, her genuine desire to support teachers and staff, and her natural ability to inspire all learners. For these reasons, the interview committees extended their strong endorsement of Feltz to be the next principal of Middlebrook School.
