Wilton firefighters responded to a house fire at 148 Old Highway on Monday afternoon, battling flames that threatened the more than 100-year-old house.The fire was concentrated primarily in the attic, destroying the wood shingled roof and extensively damaging the second floor.
Wilton’s deputy fire chief Mark Amatrudo reports that the department received the initial call about the fire shortly after noon. Firefighters got the blaze under control in about an hour, and were on the scene a total of approximately three hours. An investigation is currently underway as to what caused the fire and where it started.
No one was at home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
The Wilton Fire Department received mutual aid from fire departments in Georgetown, Ridgefield, New Canaan, Weston and Westport, and Norwalk covered Wilton on standby from Wilton Fire Department headquarters.
