For newcomers to Wilton or for those who’ve delayed registering to vote, Connecticut law now allows Election Day Registration—and voting—at each Town Hall on Election Day. Registering and voting that day will be more complex and lengthy for those who’ve delayed, but at least will afford a last chance to exercise voting rights.
To take advantage of this new service to prospective voters, Connecticut law requires additional proof of both identity and bona fide residence in Wilton. A current and valid CT Driver’s License with a Wilton address satisfies the requirements. The Wilton registrars of voters can provide further information on additional acceptable identification. In general, voters must be:
- U.S. citizens,
- at least 18-years-old by Election Day,
- a bona fide resident of Wilton
- eligible for restoration of voting rights if previously convicted of a disenfranchising felony.
In Wilton, Election Day Registration will be held in Meeting Room B of the Wilton Town Hall from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.. Handicapped accessible parking is available in the rear of the building.
To check whether you’re already registered to vote, Connecticut residents can use the Secretary of the State’s Voter Look-up website. Unlike voting in a local referendum, you must be a registered voter in Wilton to vote in the Nov. 4 election. Contact the Wilton Registrars at 203.563.0111 or at registrars@wiltonct.org for more information.
