Interested in taking part in a 3-day clinic with an Olympic Gold Medalist and her coach? USA Swimming is sending Misty Hyman, 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist in the 200 meter butterfly, along with her Master Level swim coach from Arizona FOX Swimming, Bob Gillett, exclusively to the Wilton Family Y for a 3-day clinic, May 5-8.
This is the third time in five years that USA Swimming has sent a US Olympic Gold medalist to the Wilton Y to teach Wilton swimmers. Hyman is recognized as an innovator in the underwater dolphin kick.
Wilton Y Wahoo head coach Randy Erlenbach remarks, “We are eagerly looking forward to having them come and teach us the importance of underwater kicking. Among other things, Misty Hyman was known for her underwater kick-outs and initiated some innovative ideas with the technique. We are proud and honored to have USA Swimming visit us three times in five years.”
Wilton Family YMCA executive Bob McDowell adds, “Now in our 42nd year, our Wilton Family Y Wahoo competitive swim team program continues to exemplify all that our YMCA stands for in the areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility. Led by our professional coaching staff and a very organized and involved group of parents our Wahoo Program has risen to be recognized as the 12th best program in the America by USA Swimming. Rewards such as the 3 Day Clinic being headed up by Misty and Bob will only enhance the experience for our swimmers and coaches and continue to build upon one our greatest goals of striving toward excellence through competitive swimming.”
